Running concurrently with the business briefings will be a series of practical workshops on Marketing.

This series of three workshops is for those who wish to do their own marketing and are looking for a practical guide to getting started and putting their best foot forward .  Equally these workshops could serve as a “refresher” to refine an existing plan or campaign.  There will also be an opportunity to discuss within the group  to compare businesses’ own practices and share tips.

You’ve identified you need to do some marketing for your business, you want to do it yourself, you’d appreciate some guidance on how to go about it. There’s a plethora of opportunities and choices out there, it’s pretty confusing.  How do you make the best decisions for your business, make a plan and get started? (Planning is the key!  Fail to plan = plan to fail!)

The three Marketing Workshops are being run by members of the Bartley Marketing team. They will run as a series but each also stands alone.  So feel free to attend just one workshop alongside the bite size business briefings, or if you want a really good dose of free marketing training in one morning attend all three!

In each workshop we’ll be considering the perspectives of five different types of business all relevant to New Forest businesses: retail and local business, ecommerce, accommodation, B2B and professional services.  Each workshop will run for between 30 and 45 minutes, allowing time for delegates to get back to the B2B Expo or stay on for questions and discussion.

11 am: Towards a marketing plan

The first workshop will start with the reasons for investing some time and effort in a marketing plan. It will then provide you with a framework to help you write and implement your own plan.

This workshop will be run by Jane Porter who runs locally based marketing consultancy Bartley Marketing. Bartley Marketing offers a full range of marketing services from planning to websites and social media management, and also owns the website which via its online email and social media channels promotes and champions local business. Examples will be drawn from Bartley Marketing and business customers as well as from Jane’s previous career with London marketing companies and agencies.

12 pm: Which online marketing is right for you?

The second workshop is about which online marketing choices to make for different types of business and websites. Start to fill your communications framework with the best methods and media to give your business its best foot forwards.

This workshop will be run by Bartley Marketing’s Sally Kavanagh, SEO guru and Adwords campaign manager with over 15 years experience of online marketing. Sally will look at the main online marketing channels available (both paid and “free”) and will include some basic tips for using Google Analytics as a marketing tool to measure and evaluate the results of your labours.

1 pm: Managing your social media

Having decided which social media to prioritise for your business, you now need to actually do it! Experienced social media practitioner Rebecca Wade from Bartley Marketing will show you how to save time and energy, and work more efficiently, by planning and scheduling your social media at key times.  This workshop will also include a number of tips about how to get the best possible reach and engagement from each social media channel.

2pm: How to make a better business presentation

Forest Forge Theatre Company based in Ringwood will be running a workshop about making business presentations. This fun practical workshop will give you:

  1. The strategies to prepare and calm yourself before a  presentation
  2. Ways of engaging during a presentation
  3. The opportunity  to practice presentations in a fun and safe environment.

Facilitator: Lucy Phillips, Creative Learning Director at Forest Forge Theatre

This workshop will run for approximately 60 minutes and the maximum number is 20.
